Put simply, FoxyProxy automates the manual process of editing Firefox's Connection Settings dialog. Click on "Preferences" / "Options". Select the "General" tab and scroll to the "Network Proxy" settings. Click on the "Settings" button. Select the "Manual proxy configuration" option.
